Uncovering the Fruit of Life

Hello beautiful people!

How are my little sacred beings doing today? I had a day where, I don’t want to say I was complaining, but I kinda was lol, when I found myself deep in a spiritual conversation about how nothing seems to be falling into place. Or maybe it’s that what is happening isn’t what I expected or wanted. You may know the drill: the one where you’ve got your heart set on something coming together, but it just isn’t working out. You look around and it seems like it’s all falling into place for everyone else, and they’re not even trying. Like, where is the fruit? Where is the manifestation of it all? (Just me? Okay, well, put a pin in it and circle back if you ever feel like you can relate.)

For now, walk with me as I tell you how I got checked in the spirit.

Right as I was finishing up my grievances and pouring myself a cup of tea to calm my nerves, Spirit chimed in like, “Are you finished? Can I talk now?” And talk they did. It was like they said: That cup of tea in your hands? The ability to have access to it? Fruit. That’s proof things are working. The space and time to sit and drink it so you can tend to your mental health? Fruit. The heat you used to warm the water? The money you used to buy the tea? The favorite mug you’re drinking from? The clean water you poured into your cup? All fruit.

You actively did the work to see that fruit. You got up, turned on the oven, filled the teapot, grabbed the tea bags you’d previously taken the time to buy with money you earned at a job you were hoping for just a year ago, so you could have time to sip this tea while answering emails. All fruit.

Spirit went on to say: “You want certain things, and that’s okay. But you can’t get mad if there’s no fruit when there’s also no action.” (I don’t know who Spirit was feeling like, but they kinda had me clutching my pearls at that moment.)

For anything to grow, like a fruit tree as an example, it must take action. Action to find the land. Action to till the soil. Action to find the right seed. Action to plant it. Action to water it. Action to prune the tree as it grows so it can bear fruit. And finally, action to pick the fruit, after taking the time to learn and know when it’s ripe and ready.

Let me be even more honest. The thing is, I’d been in a very long period of “I just don’t want to.” I didn’t want to do anything. I didn’t want to cook. I barely wanted to eat. I didn’t like this, I didn’t like that. I was tired. And I just didn’t want to.

And Spirit let me know: “That’s okay. Which is why you start with the first action… rest.” Rest to recover. Rest to recharge. Rest to heal. Rest to enjoy the fruit of what already is.

This was my problem, and the trap I kept falling into. Once one thing was handled, another would pop up. Then that would be managed, and another would appear. I’d go from valley to valley, skipping the part where I was supposed to pause and bask in the beauty and gratitude of what had worked out or been handled. Instead, I wore myself out running from one fire to the next, keeping my nervous system in a constant state of fight or flight. Never taking the time to stop and say, “Well, look at that, it worked out. Let’s stop and appreciate the beauty of this fruit and enjoy it.”

We’re living in so many answered prayers, yet we stuff them into the back of the closet after completion without so much as a thank you to the part of ourselves that made it through something, figured something out, and is now on the other side of it all.

It didn’t take long for me to realize this: To live a truly fruitful life, you have to honor the fact that you’re either in one of two places:

  1. Watering your tree of life (that’s you!) by resting and enjoying the fruit of what is, or
  2. In a place of action, watering your tree of life as you work toward your next harvest.

Either way, you need to water your tree of life so you can enjoy the fruit of life, whether it’s in a restful state or an active one. Both are equally important to your overall well-being.

Until next time, love you lots! – Sacred
