Transport Yourself Instantly: A Creative Activity for Self-Alignment

Hello beautiful people!

What if I told you that you can transport yourself to a beautiful place of peace, abundance, and love, instantly? Sounds crazy, right? But I was thinking of a fun way to evoke positive, fun, beautiful memories of yourself, of your life, and all that surrounds you, and I found this great activity I thought you might like.

In the middle of everything life throws at us, it is so easy to lose our footing and temporarily forget who we are. That is why I wanted to share this creative little project to pull you right back into alignment during those times you feel yourself straying away.

The idea is simple: create a box that reflects who you are as an individual. Whenever you feel lost, disconnected, or simply need a reminder, you will have a tangible representation that you can look at to recenter you and bring you back to your knowing of you.

Here are a few fun things you can include to invoke the senses:

  • Items That Hold Memories: Drop in physical keepsakes that instantly take you back to a specific moment in time. This could be an old locket, a meaningful key, a printout of a past concert ticket, a dried flower from a special day, or a piece of jewelry that represents your true essence but maybe you aren’t able to wear it as often as you’d like.
  • A Playlist of Memories: Write down music tracks on slips of paper. Include the artist, song, and year for songs that have fond memories attached to them. As an ongoing part of this, whenever you are going about your day to day and you hear a song that pulls on your heartstrings in a good way, add it to your box!
  • Hobbies or Activities: Add tools from hobbies you used to do or still love to do. If you used to knit, put knitting needles in the box. If you paint, throw in some paintbrushes. If you love taking pictures, add an old roll of film. Whenever you do something that makes you smile from the inside out, you know that feeling, the one where you feel good in your body when it happens, put it in the box. (Note: It doesn’t have to be an item, it can be a description as well)
  • Scents of You and Your Life: Don’t limit this to just a signature scent. Include any scent, like a perfume, incense, or a cologne you smell that reminds you of someone or a special moment. Put those in the box alongside the scent or scents that remind you of you, or even a version of you from your past. (Ex: A perfume you wore when you were younger, living in that city, enjoying your single life and the scent you used to wear.)
  • A Visual Collage: Print pictures of things you like to do, even if you haven’t been able to do them in a while. Use free photo websites to find images that reflect you the most, whether that’s hiking, the beach, travel, or home decor. The goal is to connect with all aspects of yourself, even the layers you aren’t currently expressing. You are still that person, made up of many layers!
  • Style and Inspiration: Clip pages from magazines that show fashion matching your style, even if it’s not practical for your current lifestyle or sits outside of your budget at the moment.

Bonus: Decorate Your Box!
Get creative and decorate the outside of the box! Grab some fabric glue and put swatches of linen or silk on the outside with stickers, or create a collage of pictures over the whole thing. You can line the inside of the box with velvet or lace to make it as luxurious as you want it to be. Or, collage leaves, sticks, and pressed flowers on the outside for a delicate, earthy feel.

Either way, allow it to be a visual representation of you so that whenever you visit it, you know it is a guaranteed time where you will feel good regardless of what your day presents. It’s like having the feeling of the beauty and abundance that is you in a box.

Go find a box, start gathering your pieces, and create a beautiful space to hold your essence. You deserve to remember how wonderful you are!

Until next time, love you lots! -Sacred
