Finding Grace in the Shift and Ending the War in Your Mind

Hello beautiful people, I know I have been gone for a while and honestly, I don’t know how long I will be present and, when doing so, how consistent. Life has made a sharp left when I thought we were going right, and I find myself in a last-minute, unexpected situation where I am taking care of my sick parent. Needless to say, there has been a lot to unpack in the midst of it all and I still am—unpacking it all, that is.

If I have one—although I have many and hopefully will be able to put my own words into practice in a new way where I have to find the time to create a space for self—but those thoughts and lessons will be shared in the future. Back to what I was saying, if I had one thing that I have learned in the midst of what it takes to be someone’s caretaker that is also a complicated relationship, then that is to be kind to myself. To count the wins, learn from the losses, and move forward. To not stay in one place too long—too long where negativity, doubt, and self-talk can take root and knock you off your grounded foundation.

This situation has lent itself to be a mirror for me, one that has shown me how my decisions can have long-term consequences, but also, if done correctly, can course-correct and get you back on track… if you get your mind on board. The mind—it is the very thing that can be your biggest leap forward or your worst enemy that can keep pulling you back. And the crazy thing is, you decide. Each moment, each day, each week, you decide. And the layer to that is, you still can’t get stuck on what was good for yesterday, because today it may change, and tomorrow it may be the wrong decision altogether.

To be fluid, and flow. To slow down while also moving forward. To be gentle yet uncompromising on what aligns with where you want to be and do. To be forgiving but also hold yourself accountable.

Life is worth living when the living you are committing to is intentional to who you are as an individual, and as an individual, what you allow in your spiritual and physical orbit to engage with. The key, the permissions, passcodes if you will, and who you tell them to. Life not only comes at you fast, but it also goes by fast, so operate as if your time is the most precious, priceless commodity you own as you decide what you will exchange it for day to day.

You’ve got this—hell, we’ve got this. If anybody should be on your side and rooting for you, it should at least be you. Drop the weapons, end the war, and walk away from the battle that starts in between your ears in that mind of yours, and start creating a soft, gentle, loving space for your being to dwell.

I’m rambling, so let me go wake up my mom so I can feed her.

Until next time, love you lots! -Sacred
