A Sacred Pause: Returning to Yourself

Hello beautiful people,

As we bring this year to an end, I’m starting to gather all of my rituals and prayers together and sink into my quiet space where I go within to take account of the events of the year, the losses, lessons, growth, healing, and manifestations for the years to come. It is a time that is so special to me, and I’ve learned that this space is very crucial. It’s so sacred that I can only allow certain people, if any, around me, so I don’t risk the seed of transitioning from one place to the next being killed before it has a chance to take root, grow, and bear fruit.

In the next few weeks, I will share some of the things that I do, some yearly and others as the need presents itself, that guide me from old to new. I challenge you to look at this time as more than just the holidays, but also as the holy days that aren’t meant just for outwardly religious practices, but for the most important practice of all: you.

Without you, the hungry aren’t fed, the houseless aren’t given blankets during the winter, your children don’t experience what it is like to be loved and cared for, your friend groups don’t get to experience the beauty of your personality and the presence of having you as a part of their community, and the list goes on and on. If you don’t take time to care for yourself first, then the vessel in which the water of hope, love, care, support, and liveliness flows through, eventually begins to break down and operate from a lesser place.

I say it’s a challenge because society has made it seem like taking care of yourself first is selfish, and that is the furthest thing from the truth. You don’t have to do it all today or all at one time. Little by little will be your greatest friend as you chip your way back to being the light that you are created to be.

Take a moment to remember who you are, your hopes, dreams, and desires. Remember that person? They are still in there waiting for you to remember, that you have specific needs too. Ask the humanity of self what it needs to survive, and look at how it does or doesn’t show up in your life. You have the power to speak life into your life, and it all starts with the vision, self-talk, and mindset you have. But first, you must take responsibility for your part in the narrative of your story.

Sometimes I just be talking and I’m not sure if people get what I’m saying, but in that, I truly feel that whoever it is for, they will not only understand it, but they will get it, and it will be exactly what they needed to hear to begin living again. So to whoever you are, you’ve got this. Gentle, gentle, my friend, and little by little.

Until next time, love you lots!
