What’s Holding You Back from the Life You Deserve? The 4 Inner Shifts You Need

Do you ever wonder what the difference is between a person who’s living the dream and someone who only dreams of living?
It comes down to four things: determination, persistence, endurance, and patience. I’m not saying that the person dreaming of a better life doesn’t have these qualities, but to shift your life from ordinary to extraordinary, you need to actively cultivate all of them. It takes determination to change the way you think so that doubt doesn’t have a seat at the table. Tell yourself, “This is what I want and how I want it,” and then figure out how to make it happen.

It takes persistence because you’ll need to pursue your dream on a daily basis. Do something each day, big or small, that pushes you a step closer to your goal. Start observing yourself. Yes, observe yourself. How you talk, think, act, who you surround yourself with, even the social activities you participate in. Do they reflect the level of life you desire? Are they producing the results you want? You don’t have to go join a country club, but when you visualize your dream life, are you hanging out in the same places, or with the same people, you’re around now? If the answer is no, then it’s time to make some changes. A step toward your dream isn’t always about what you do, it’s also about who or what you let go of.

Here’s a tough one, the real difference between someone who makes it and someone who gives up: endurance. Endurance is hard. It means you keep going no matter what it looks like. A lack of endurance is what’s killed countless dreams, relationships, marriages, businesses, you name it. Practicing endurance means being fully in it for the long haul. Some things in life are continuous, you’re forever moving, growing, and transitioning to the next level.

And then there’s patience. Patience is what you need while you’re being determined, persistent, and enduring through the process. It’s the voice that tells you, “Don’t make a drastic, emotional decision right now. Stay the course.” It’s what you lean on when Plan A through Plan C have failed, but you’re still motivated enough to figure out Plan D.

If you want to stop dreaming of living and start living the dream, here’s your call to action:

Determine what it would take.
Observe yourself honestly.
Count up the cost. (Are you really willing to pay the price in time, effort, etc.?)
Then make an unwavering decision…and do it!

No counterfeit versions allowed.

And remember, your dream may not look like anyone else’s. Never compare. Never duplicate. Go deep within. Discover what makes you happy. And create the life of your dreams.

Do you have what it takes? I assure you that you do… but the question is: When will you realize it?

Until next time, love you lots! – Sacred
