As I mentioned last week, there are two areas I need to constantly focus on when it comes to imbalanced chakras. I spoke about the root chakra being one of them, and this week, I’ll be discussing the other: the sacral chakra, since these are the ones I’m currently working on. The sacral chakra, located just below the navel, is responsible for creativity, passion, and emotional flow. It’s the energy center that helps us connect with our emotions, our sexuality, and our ability to enjoy life. As I’ve mentioned before, past trauma affects my emotions and how I view life, which in turn impacts how I enjoy life. Unfortunately, this also affects my creativity and makes it difficult to be consistently creative. You see, when balanced, this chakra brings vitality, joy, and a healthy sense of self. When out of balance, it can lead to emotional instability, creative blocks, and physical issues like lower back pain or digestive discomfort.
In a Healthy State: When the sacral chakra is balanced, you feel emotionally connected, creatively inspired, and able to express your desires. You experience joy and pleasure in life, and your relationships are healthy and fulfilling.
In an Unhealthy State: An imbalanced sacral chakra may cause feelings of emotional numbness, guilt, or shame. It can lead to creative blocks, relationship issues, and physical discomfort in the lower back, hips, or reproductive area.
Color and Stones of the Sacral Chakra
- Color: The sacral chakra is associated with the color orange, symbolizing vitality, creativity, and passion.

- Carnelian: Boosts creativity and passion…my fav.
- Moonstone: Enhances emotional balance and intuition.
- Orange Calcite: Clears emotional blockages and boosts joy.
How to Balance the Sacral Chakra
- Meditation: Visualize a glowing orange light in your lower abdomen, and focus on releasing emotional blockages.
- Yoga: I stretch and do yoga to release my low back but you can also practice hip-openers like Pigeon Pose or Goddess Pose to release tension and connect with your creative energy.
- Creative Expression: Engage in activities like painting, dancing, or journaling to unblock your creativity.
- Self-Care: Spend time doing things that bring you pleasure—whether that’s a warm bath, time with loved ones, or simply relaxing.
Always Remember:
The sacral chakra helps you embrace your creativity, passion, and emotional connection. By nurturing it through self-care, creative expression, and mindful practices, you can experience more joy and flow in your life.
