I truly believe that you can get way further in life as an original masterpiece than you can as a counterfeit of someone else’s masterpiece. I sometimes tussle with myself concerning my creative gifts—not in whether I like them or not, but more so comparing the “success” of others. I swear I hope I look back at these posts one day and say, “See, aren’t you glad you didn’t give up?” because I actually accomplished what I set out to do in the future.
Until then, I keep reminding myself that some people are really good and/or successful because they have committed to being their authentic selves at the highest level. For example, think Beyoncé. I’ve seen artists come out and try to copy and paste her technique in all things like it’s a blueprint or manual to success. Nice try, but still not Beyoncé. Money and opportunities will always follow people who are being the best version of themselves. People like this put in the work that they are able to do according to their abilities.
Do you know what happens when you try to do something at a level you aren’t equipped for? You do damage, that’s what you do—to yourself and whatever you are working on. AND THEN you have to circle back to the start. Now, that’s rough!
So I tell you, as I tell myself, keep going. Keep working on what you are working on. Keep being who you are. Keep operating at the best level you can on any given day and adjust as needed. But most importantly, know that you are doing the best that you can, and as I always tell you, that is good enough.
Until next time, beautiful people! -Sacred
